Something New, Yet The Same occupies an unsettling middle ground between stillness and erosion. Across seven cohesive tracks, dense atmospheric drones are layered with abrasive noise textures and heavily distorted electric-acoustic guitar, building a sound that is simultaneously immersive and deeply uneasy. Produced entirely in Bitwig Studio using Hive and its native synthesis tools, the record draws inspiration from the delicate compositional tension of Siavash Amini and the corrosive textural language of Tim Hecker, resulting in something that feels less like individual songs and more like a single, sustained environment slowly coming apart.
The title reflects the album’s relationship to earlier work: familiar in its commitment to drone and texture, but darker in tone and intent.
